The Taiga is cold in the winters and it can drop to -54 degrees celcius (-65.2 degrees F). In the summer it goes up to a high of 21 degrees celcius (70 degrees F). It can go from way below freezing to a nice temperature to be outside. It doesn't rain as much as it snows, but it doesn't precipitate that much anyway. There is only 30-85 (12-33 in.) of precipitation per year.
The soil in the Taiga is not fertile. The soil most of the time has permafrost which is frost that doesn't thaw and is in a layer below the surface. Also the soil is soggy. Decomposition happens slowly in the Taiga and not all of the nutrients are used quickly. But when the needles fall to the ground and are decomposed they make the soil acidic so it is not good for growing plants.
